Vanity Upon Vanity: Our True Home is Not on Earth
One of the greatest truths the Bible teaches us is that Earth is not our permanent home. We are only passing through. Life here is a temporary journey, and every human being, no matter how powerful, rich, or poor, will face death. This reality is not meant to bring fear but wisdom, reminding us to live with eternity in mind. Life is Temporary The book of Ecclesiastes begins with a powerful declaration: “Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity.” (Ecclesiastes 1:2, ESV). King Solomon, the wisest man to ever live, had wealth, knowledge, and every earthly pleasure imaginable. Yet at the end of it all, he realized that everything under the sun is temporary. Money fades, beauty fades, kingdoms rise and fall, but our spirit lives on.
